So Civilized (Murray/Yeoward)
way back before the dawn of time
under the sun, at square one
mankind struggled to survive
born and died, lived lives
we’d take what we need
turned fruit into seed
so soft we walked upon the earth
that our footprints are blown away
fully harmonized, uncivilized
untouched, unchained
spinning round the sun
in equilibrium
unchanged
from cave walls to courts of kings
to foreign lands we tied our strings
flew our flags as we sailed in
laid claims to everything
nowadays we stay inside
spend our time online
this is the age of flashing screens
mp3’s and gasoline
fully digitized, so civilized
so burgers to go
now we as human beings
are humans buying
dreams we have been sold
look what we have done – what have we done (3x)
so here we are
the only thing that’s clear
everyone, bar none
so what way
shall we go from here
will we last
another 1000 years?
as our candle burns so bright
burns so brightly
will we be blinded
fully digitized, so civilized
so ready to blow
it’s time to realize that tomorrow
it ain’t coming for sure
